Raising quail is for anybody that wants to take responsibility for their families food supply by producing some of the highest quality protein available. Quail fit in perfectly into many situations, from small urban and suburban gardens to larger farms and homesteads. They are quiet, small friendly birds who enjoy living in small groups, or coveys. They don’t take up very much space, and are much gentler on the land than other larger birds.
Quail are prolific layers, laying up to 300 eggs per year, and will start laying in as little as 2 months, compared to 6 months for chickens or ducks. They only consume on average 2lbs of feed per month, and in return for the care that you give them they will provide you with some of the most nutritious eggs on the planet.
